Course- Young Beginners Holiday Workshop

Service Description

In this workshop, students will learn to use the sewing machine safely to make a bookmark and a drawstring backpack with an appliqué letter or image design. Who is this class for? This class is suitable for children aged 11-14 who want to learn to use the sewing machine, or who may already have some sewing skills. Duration Two x 5.5hr workshops, 9:30-3pm Tues 4/7/23 and Wed 5/7/23. Students must attend both sessions. Please arrive 10 minutes before start time as class will start on time. Parents may chat with me earlier before the session or afterwards. Students must be picked up promptly after the session ends. Where Evans River K-12 School, 65 Cypress St Evans Head. Details to find the classroom will be provided upon purchase. Workshop One Learning to use the sewing machine (learning control by sewing on paper, then learning to thread the machine and practice sewing) Project 1: Fabric bookmark. Project 2: Designing and cutting out your backpack. Workshop Two Continue Project 2 Appliqué (chosen letter or image) Sewing the backpack (side seams, casing, drawstring and eyelets) What's Supplied All fabric, notions and equipment supplied for both projects. Please select your fabric from the images below, and indicate in the booking form. There are limited amounts of each fabric, I will notify you if your first preference is unavailable. - Tikka Spot - Lagoon Blue Spot - Neon Wiggle - Banksia - Bottle Green - All appliqué letters will be done in black or white. What to Bring Students must bring a packed lunchbox and water bottle. Same as they would for a usual school day. Fruit will be provided at morning tea. Number of Students Minimum 4 students per workshop. If this is not possible you will receive a full refund. Maximum 10 students per workshop. Your Teacher This class is run by me, Michelle. I am a university qualified Textiles and Design teacher with a current Working With Children Check (0075819E). I have been teaching secondary school students (aged 11 and up) for 7 years (which is my current full time job), and have a Diploma in Fashion Design with over 10 years experience.
